we are now approaching 39 weeks, and as much as i'd like to have this baby already... i am glad he is waiting, for now. i haven't been feeling well for a couple weeks and am just praying healing comes soon (anyone who wants to join me in this prayer is more than welcome!). the thought of going into labor without 100% of my strength is a bit more than i care to imagine right now.
in the meantime, i am enjoying these last moments of just us girls :) we've done a lot of finger painting, playing with play-doh, blocks, and snuggling up watching cartoons - especially on chilly days like today! this little peanut is so sweet. she is constantly picking up things from the floor that i can't reach, putting her toys away, and giving my belly lots of hugs and kisses. not to mention, she potty trained with minimal effort a month after her second birthday. i was astonished. i never read a potty training book. i had no idea how to start or what to do first. i made a deliberate effort to keep my expectations low, though i have to admit, i was well aware of how convenient it would be to have only one little tyke in diapers at a time... apparently she agreed. we are so proud of her, and she is pretty proud of herself too. we still have a mini celebration every time she gets to put her 'big girl undies' on. oh the joys of toddlerhood :)
it's a memorable day in the Knee household today. jake is trading in his truck for a small suv. it just isn't practical anymore. our family is growing, gas prices are rising... we finally decided it was time. i am so proud of him. i've never really been one to get attached to a vehicle, but i do have to say that his truck is pretty special to both of us. we started dating soon after he bought it, and we drove it on all of our first dates. at first i was too shy (or maybe just not country enough) to sit in the middle, but that didn't last long. just the other day as i was climbing in with my big 'ol belly i said, 'all those times you imagined me sitting in the middle of your truck, i bet you never pictured i'd be pregnant with our second child!' he agreed.
jake came to see me in michigan countless times in his truck. i drove it to work for months when i first moved to PA, because my little '87 tempo didn't pass inspection. our dear friends had it all decked out the night of our wedding. we've driven it on the night of the first snow every winter since we've been married. its our new family tradition :)
oh, and did i forget to mention, eden LOOOOOVES 'dada's truck!' i finally realized that she thinks she's at a theme park when she rides in it. you should see her, sitting all proud, and all smiles, when she rides in it. she talks about dada's truck ALL THE TIME. what can i say? she's daddy's little girl.
we'll get some last pictures of her and dada's truck, then trade it in and embrace all the little (and not so little) changes that come about from starting a family.
hope you have a happy week!
(ps - tried to post pictures but the blog won't let me... sorry!)
